How I Work

Some part of you keeps asking, “Is this it?” It might be anxiety that hums in the background, a pressure to keep up that won’t lift, or loneliness that shows up even around people who care about you. It might be a relationship that has gone quiet, or the argument you’ve had fifty times.

I’m Briana Bass, M.Ed., LPC, a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist and former corporate executive. I work with individuals and couples in Dallas, Austin, and online across Texas, and I’ve discussed this work on more than 60 podcasts.

What I learned before I became a therapist

I spent more than ten years in corporate leadership and rose to the executive level. That decade gave me a close view of how capable people handle pressure. Most of them performed well in public and carried a great deal privately. I watched stress move from the office into marriages, friendships, and sleep, and I watched the same patterns repeat in people who were otherwise sharp and self-aware. Eventually I recognized those patterns in myself, and I changed course.

Dallas and Austin are full of people like the ones I worked alongside: ambitious, stretched, and often struggling behind a polished exterior. I understand that world from the inside, and I bring that understanding into every session.

Who this work is for

I work with men and women, individually and as couples. My clients tend to be reflective and honest with themselves, and they arrive ready to change something. Many share a belief that they get one life, and they want the one they’re living to reflect it.

Individuals often come to me for anxiety, depression, burnout, loneliness, low self-worth, or rebuilding after a breakup, a divorce, or a stretch of modern dating that wore them down. Couples come for recurring conflict, distance, broken trust, or intimacy that has faded.

What working together looks like

My style is practical, candid, and warm. I’ll tell you what I see, and I’ll ask you to look at it with me.

In our first sessions, we get a clear, honest read on what’s happening and what keeps it in place. From there we build a specific plan. Sessions stay active and focused on your life outside the room, so the work continues between appointments.

My clinical approach

My work draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Gottman techniques, and it’s grounded in neuroscience. I explain what’s happening underneath what you’re feeling, including how stress, threat, and connection register in the brain and nervous system, so the work makes sense to you.

As a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist, I’m also trained to work with intimacy and sexuality when they’re part of the picture. Nothing is off-limits in my office.

Where and when

I see clients in person in Dallas, at 75 and Lovers near Highland Park, and in Austin, at 501 Studios on N. Interstate Hwy 35. Virtual sessions cover anywhere in Texas, and I offer day, evening, and weekend appointments.

Book a first session instantly and directly online. You may also text the office at (972) 755-9608. My practice is private pay. FSA and HSA cards are accepted, and I provide a receipt for easy out-of-network reimbursement.
